Sales & Marketing Tasks For When You Have Down Time
If you're reading this as we publish it, late December, you may be experiencing something many people enjoy — a much lighter workload. We don't want to stress you out, just raise a few tasks that you could be doing when you're in the office while everyone else is on vacation that will boost your sales and marketing. During this time of year when workloads tend to lighten due to many people being out of the office, several tasks can be beneficial for sales and marketing teams.
Here are some actionable tasks you can do to enhance your sales and marketing whenever it's slow in your office:
Evergreen Tasks for Sales and Marketing
- Update CRM Data: Clean up outdated contact info, add notes from recent conversations, and organize your pipeline. It's annoying, but now is the time to do it.
- Review Marketing Strategies: Have you gone over lessons learned and best practices from your campaigns? If not, now is the time to go back and do so — and create a process so that it's standard at the end of every campaign.
- Plan Upcoming Campaigns: Use quieter periods to brainstorm and outline future marketing campaigns, including seasonal promotions or product launches and start creating marketing assets so they are ready when you need them.
- Conduct Customer Surveys: You don't have to send the surveys now, but create and schedule them to gather feedback from customers about their experiences and preferences to gain insights that can inform future strategies.
- Develop Content: Create blog posts, social media content, or email newsletters and schedule now. Keep track in your content calendar so you can update the content before it's published if needed.
- Optimize Email Lists: Regularly clean and segment your email lists to enhance targeting and improve engagement rates.
- Set Goals: We won't judge you if you haven't done it already, but if you haven't, now is the time to set clear sales and marketing goals based on ongoing performance analysis, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Train and Develop Skills: Now is the time to do some continuing education and take training sessions or workshops that you do at your own pace, to enhance team skills, focusing on tools or strategies relevant to your industry.
- Engage with Social Media: Even if people are out of the office, they're still on social media, so get on, read, engage, and boost your exposure.
- Launch Loyalty Programs: Consider developing a customer loyalty program that encourages repeat business and enhances customer retention.
- Create a Referral Program: Design a referral program that incentivizes existing customers to refer new clients, helping to expand your customer base.
- Network and Build Relationships: Use quieter times to reach out to industry contacts, potential partners, or clients for networking opportunities that can lead to future collaborations. You can always schedule the emails to hit their inboxes when they'll be back in the office.
- Explore New Tools and Technologies: Research and evaluate new sales and marketing tools that could streamline processes or enhance productivity.
If you're on vacation — enjoy yourself! But if you're in the office don't miss this opportunity to strengthen your sales and marketing.
